The Do’s and Dont’s of Make-up

Few months back, I knew nothing about makeup…I was literarily a make up fail. But now, I can boldly say that am a guru…loool don’t quote me…due to research and determination and practice. I know we all like to take risks in fashion, but some risks are expensive and can cause us our self esteem…hmmm.

I. Never put concealer or foundation on your eyelids otherwise it causes makeup to crease, yes,it cluggs into the middle of your eyelids.

II. Use your fingers to apply foundation, rub it gently in a circle-like manner till it covers your whole face.

III. I myself make this mistake sometimes, your T-zone is the shinniest part of your face because it contains more oil glands than other parts of the face, apply light dustings on everywhere else but start powdering your T-zone first.

IV. Use bronzer on your neck, chest and face to even out your skin tone. Make sure the colours blend in flawlessly.

V. Some people look like ghosts after applying blush, or in their case, ‘blunt’ yeah I call it blunt. Note that before applying blush, you have to first smile then start on the apple of the cheek, blend the brush back towards the ear, then down toward the jawline.

VI. Apply powder to the upper portion of the eyebrow to lift the face up.

VII. To make sure that your lipstick is not too defined at the cupid’s bow ( the upper lip portion) and that it goes all the way to the inner portion of the mouth, press harder on the lip as you apply.

VIII. Start with a base shadow that matches the lightest skin tone on your face and apply it all over your eyelid up to your brow. Make sure the darker shadows used on your lid up to the crease blend in properly.

IX. When applying your eyeliner, stick your head up and bring your chin toward the mirror, by so doing, you get to look down as you go starting from the inner corners of the eyes all the way to the end.

X. When applying mascara, jam the mascara brush into the root of the lash and do zig-zag motions as you go.
